A Burgeoning Family Business Based in the Highlands
After nearly a quarter of a century in the specialist plant and construction industry Liam Simpson, our company owner and founder, took the plunge and opened his business – LGS Highways – in 2019.
At first it was just Liam, supported by his wife Louise, with a hired van, masses of determination and a firm belief that with hard work anything is possible.
Today Liam and Louise are major employers in Grantown on Spey in the Scottish Highlands, where our company admin team and workforce of around 40 permanent staff are based, along with two dozen vans and lorries, and a selection of plant and machinery. There are also around 20 sub-contractors on standby at any given time.
As the work keeps rolling in, so does our business grow – we’ve recently taken over a new yard in Airdrie, near Glasgow, to accommodate our expanding operations in Scotland.

All our staff, from the ground up to senior management, hold various tickets and certificates, including CSCS, CPCS, CITB, NPORS and various LANTRA qualifications.
We take on challenging contracts from far and wide, not just in Scotland but across the whole of the UK.
We’re best known for our specialist installations of Vehicle Restraint Systems, having worked on some of the country’s largest road projects on major motorways.
We’re also in demand for allied safety and security contracts like erecting Environmental Barriers, Perimeter and High Security Fencing, Automated barriers and Gates, as well as Road Marking (yellow and white lining). We carry out high volumes of all post and wire and post and rail fences.
We pride ourselves on being the best in the business, always willing to go above and beyond for our clients and not shy of finding solutions for difficult situations. After all, we firmly believe that anything is achievable.
